Barney & Worth is looking for a senior project manager in the Puget Sound region to take a leadership role building new business while working closely with our talented team of strategic communications and planning consultants. Location: Seattle office location

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Partner with public agencies to design community engagement programs that build awareness and support for public infrastructure—water, wastewater, stormwater, and transportation.
  • Collaborate with a team of senior consultants to win new work with public agencies and deliver high-quality strategic planning and communications projects on time and on budget.
  • Develop strategic communications plans, reports, and communications materials.
  • Plan and facilitate virtual and in-person public events.
  • Complete research including stakeholder interviews, online surveys, and data analysis.
  • Work in an office setting with periodic out-of-office travel for client meetings and public events.

Desired skills and experience

  • General guidelines (though not strict requirements) for qualified candidates include:
  • 5-15 years of experience managing communications efforts for utilities and public infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in water and transportation infrastructure or other related technical background.
  • Four-year degree in communications, environmental planning, marketing, political science, or other subject related to public outreach or infrastructure.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Skilled written and verbal communicator.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with any combination of document design, email and social media marketing, video editing, website development.

Project Coordinator I-III

Location: Portland, Oregon (downtown office location)

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Assist a team of senior consultants with executing the fine details for strategic planning and communications projects.
  • Work under the direction of project managers to support on-time and on-budget project delivery that meets quality standards.
  • Collaborate on multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines for a variety of clients.
  • Support virtual and in-person public events and open houses, including planning, logistics, materials, and staffing.
  • Assist with online research, stakeholder interviews, online survey creation and data analysis, mailings, website updates, proposal preparation, and a variety of public engagement activities.
  • Work in an office setting with periodic out-of-office and weekend and evening work to support public meetings and community events. This position requires the ability to work on several different projects throughout the day, lift file storage size boxes, and have the ability to arrange transportation to get to off-site locations.

Desired skills and experience

  • 5-7 years of experience project support and management
  • Degree or post high school training
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Skilled written and verbal communicator
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with email marketing and social media platforms
  • Bonus: experience with document design, video editing, and website updates
  • Bonus: experience in water and transportation infrastructure or other related technical background

Administrative Assistant

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Serve as a frontline representative for office visitors and phone calls.
  • Provide clerical support such as typing meeting minutes and correspondence notes, supporting development of presentations, reports, and other communications materials.
  • Help schedule and coordinate logistics for internal and external events, client meetings, and community engagement activities.
  • Perform general office administrative duties such as managing office supplies and coordinating with building management and maintenance.
  • Support project document management and reporting needs.
  • Other duties as needed.

Desired skills and experience
General guidelines (though not strict requirements) for qualified candidates include:

  • Excellent people skills, time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects and tasks at one time, while meeting tight deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong knowledge of standard office administrative procedures and systems for word processing, managing files, and tracking projects.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as an Administrative Assistant or Project Assistant.
  • Degree or post high school training.

Software skills

  • MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and SharePoint a must
  • Adobe Creative Suite a plus
